Brooklyn Cares

This blog used to be about Brooklyn, but then Emily Meehan moved from Clinton Hill to Bushwick. Now it's just random.

Peel Me a Grape You Geezer, 2004

This OG production by me and Jamie Hill, then my studio mate at the defunct Punch Gallery in San Francisco, got me my first radio gig at KQED, and then Krob mixed it into his Pirate Cat program, “Stimulus Regression Programming.” It’s still one of my favorite essays, about a bartender’s fantasies.

I didn’t explain that the underlying tension in this story is the Irish patrons and the Irish nature of the bar versus these English criminals, whom I shouldn’t love — as an Irish bartender — but do. Bad boys smell good.
