Brooklyn Cares

This blog used to be about Brooklyn, but then Emily Meehan moved from Clinton Hill to Bushwick. Now it's just random.

I wish I had a camera. But ever since I wrote that manifesto against bourgeois spending, I haven’t allowed myself to buy one. The reason I wish I had one is that on a regular basis when it’s temperate outdoors, like tonight, there are guys with facial hair playing guitar on the benches outside Brooklyn’s Natural, the local grocer. Some wear army jackets, and they sit in front of a bulletin board COVERED with flyers. Flyers, on paper, with little phone number rip offs on the bottom. Like in the old days!!! It’s really awesome, like we are all beatnicks here in our part of Bushwick, living in 1994, or 1964, innocent of iPhones, Youtube, still living in 3 dimensional culture. You should take the L train to Morgan just to see it, it’s touching. Get out at the Bogart exit and Brooklyn’s Natural is right next to the exit.
